Highlights of the 2010 Village Hospital Greer Family Fest include:
Usage of Greer City Park: One of the biggest new features for this year’s Greer Family Fest is the expansion into the new Greer City Park. The park will feature one of the three Family Fest stages (amphitheater stage), Bloom Food Court, and part of the KidsZone of inflatable rides.
Bloom Food Court: The festival is proud to feature the “Bloom Food Court” on the promenade in Greer City Park featuring the best local restaurants and food vendors from the area. Festival food favorites include funnel cakes, cotton candy, grilled chicken, Italian ice, hot dogs, BBQ, fresh-squeezed lemonade, candy apples, burgers, and much more!
Arts & Crafts Vendors: One of the most popular aspects of the festival is the 75 arts and crafts vendors exhibited throughout downtown Greer on Friday and Saturday. The vendors will be located on Trade St., Randall St., Poinsett St., and Depot St. They sell a wide variety of items including jewelry, oil paintings, carved gourds, pottery, wooden crafts, breadboxes, purses, embroidered children’s items, soaps, local art, wickless candles, sunglasses, children’s books, airbrushed designs, and much more. Festival organizers are encouraging people to come and support these local artists and crafters.
Greer Idol Season 4 Auditions: Try-outs for this popular summer music competition will take place at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest! Auditions will take place on the BMW Manufacturing Co. Ampitheater Stage in Greer City Park on both Friday and Saturday.
Mitsubishi KidsZone: Inflatables and mechanical rides for all ages will be featured in the KidsZone. Don’t miss the thrilling Round Up, Spinzola Barrels of Fun, King Kong inflatable slide, toddler town, hot air balloon ride and many more!
Beach Blast Night featuring Shag Lessons: One of the most well-liked aspects of the festival is the Friday Night “Beach Blast” at the Garfield Main Stage. Shag dance lessons will kick-off the evening at 6:30pm with beach band Southern Crescent taking the stage at 7pm.
Disney Family Movie: The Village Hospital Greer Family Fest is proud to offer a showing of one of Disney’s classics, “Cars” at the Dick Ploof Community Stage on Friday night. Bring your own lawn chairs and come and enjoy a family-friendly movie outdoors under the stars. Movie will start at dusk.
Friday Night KidsZone Deal: Back by popular demand is the Friday Night KidsZone deal! ONLY ON Friday, April 30 from 6:00-10:00pm the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest will sell “Pay one price – ride unlimited” bracelets for only $15.
Annual Children’s Parade: To help kick-off the Anne Helton Creation Station, we encourage families to come and walk in the Annual Children’s parade that will start at 10:45 on Saturday in the Greer City Park. Parade route will include two blocks and end in Creation Station which opens at 11:00am.
Anne Helton Creation Station: On Saturday, May 1, the Creation Station will be open from 11:00am to 3:00pm and features over 35 FREE arts and crafts projects for children. Anne Helton Creation Station is sponsored by Mitsubishi and presented by area churches which include (to date): Freedom Fellowship, Greer First Baptist, New Birth Greenville, Pleasant Grove Baptist, Ridgeview Church, Northwood Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Victor Baptist. All Aboard!: From 11:00am to 5:00pm Saturday, you can ride the Citizens Building & Loan train at the festival. The train stop is behind Citizens Building & Loan on Randall Street.
Calling all Parrot Heads!: Don’t forget your Hawaiian shirt as the number one rated Jimmy Buffett tribute act in the Country takes the stage! The Parrots of the Caribbean will perform at 7:30 at the Garfield Main Stage on Saturday night.
Dick Ploof Community Stage: The Family Fest is proud to continue the traditional Community Stage, which gives the opportunity for local acts, dance groups, churches and more to showcase themselves in front of a live audience on Saturday, May 1 in downtown Greer!
